07 March 2024 (Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain): Bahrain Harbour has wrapped up its first-ever Art Symposium “Harbour Art” with great success, hosting 15 leading artists from the region. The event, which took place from March 3 to March 7, aimed to establish Bahrain Harbour as a prominent destination for arts and culture in the region.
The closing ceremony of the Art Symposium was graced by the presence of Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the National Council for Arts, Mr. Hisham Al Rayes, Chairman of Infracorp, the developing company of Bahrain Harbour, and Mr. Majid Al Khan, CEO of Infracorp, in addition to VIPs and members of the art scene in Bahrain and the GCC region. The event showcased the diverse talents of the participating artists and highlighted the unique outcome that will be utilised in strategic tourism projects in Bahrain.
On this occasion, Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the National Council for Arts, said: “As this symposium coincides with the anniversary of the silver jubilee of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s accession, we value His Majesty’s continued support for art and culture, and we appreciate the efforts of Infracorp and all parties seeking to strengthen the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a prominent destination for art and culture in the region.”
The Chairman of the National Council for Arts stated that Infracorp’s initiative to bring together talented artists in one forum is an opportunity to produce new and innovative works that will leave an impact on the artistic scene, encouraging more fruitful cooperation with the institutional sector.
On his part, Mr. Majid Al Khan, CEO of Infracorp, said: “The success of the ‘Harbour Art’ paves the way for hosting more distinctive and innovative events in the future, while the support of His Excellency Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and the National Council for Arts underscores the importance of promoting the arts scene in Bahrain and strengthening the cultural fabric in the region.”
The symposium brought together a mix of artists working across various mediums, including abstract, geometric, figurative arts, and more, providing participants with an opportunity to meet with their peers and create new and innovative works that will leave a lasting impact on the cultural landscape of Bahrain.
