Royal Bahrain Hospital Promotes Early Detection During Breast Cancer Awareness Month Comprehensive breast screening packages introduced to support timely assessment and women’s health

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain – October 2026:

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Royal Bahrain Hospital is encouraging women to prioritise breast health and speak with their doctors about appropriate screening. Early detection plays an important role in improving treatment options and outcomes, particularly when abnormalities are identified at an earlier stage.

To support greater access to breast screening, the hospital is offering three screening packages during October, designed to address different clinical needs.

The Ultrasound Screening Package includes a general surgery consultation and breast ultrasound. The Mammogram Screening Package includes a general surgery consultation and bilateral digital mammography, while the Comprehensive Breast Screening Package combines a general surgery consultation with bilateral digital mammography and breast ultrasound.

These options are intended to provide women with access to appropriate assessment and screening based on their individual needs and clinical advice.

Commenting on the importance of early detection, Dr. Sally Al-Jubouri, Consultant General Surgeon at Royal Bahrain Hospital, said: “Early detection can significantly improve treatment options and outcomes. Breast screening gives us the opportunity to identify abnormalities at an earlier stage and, where necessary, arrange further evaluation without delay. We encourage women to be proactive about their breast health and to discuss the most appropriate screening approach with their doctor.”

Dr. Al-Jubouri also emphasised that screening should form part of a broader commitment to women’s health, supported by timely medical assessment and specialist follow-up when required.

Dr. Neetha Ravi, Specialist General Surgeon, highlighted the importance of comfort, privacy and personalised care during breast screening. “For many women, having female surgeons and medical staff available can provide added comfort and reassurance during a sensitive screening process. We understand that patients may feel anxious, and our role is not only to assess their condition, but also to support them with dignity, privacy and clear guidance throughout their care.”

Royal Bahrain Hospital continues to support women through screening, specialist assessment and coordinated care where further investigation or treatment may be required. The hospital’s aim is to make breast health services more accessible while encouraging women not to delay recommended screening.

Women interested in the available breast screening packages are encouraged to contact Royal Bahrain Hospital for further information and to discuss which screening option may be appropriate for them.
